S. Hughston Nichols
Hughston earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama where he pursued a broad range of campus activities. He was elected to Intra-Fraternity Council Judicial Affairs Board, served on the Alumni Relations Board for the Student Government Association and was selected for memberships in numerous honoraries – including Golden Key and JASONS. He received his Bachelor’s degree in business management, cum laude.
Hughston received his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in May of 2006. While a law student, he served as an Honor Court Justice and was selected for membership as an Academic All-American.
In 2006, immediately following law school, Hughston joined the firm as an associate. At Hare Wynn, Hughston's practice includes representing plaintiffs in a wide variety of areas including personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, truck and automobile accidents and construction litigation. He has been involved in numerous successful pre-suit and pre-trial settlements, including obtaining a multi-million dollar settlement involving the death of nine-year-old boy. Hughston has also been successful in representing families in court, including a recent $500,000 jury verdict in favor of a young lady injured in a motor vehicle accident.
Hughston is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association, Alabama State Bar, Alabama Association for Justice and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is also a member of the Emerging Leaders section of the Alabama Association for Justice. He was selected by his peers to the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers’ Section of the Alabama State Bar. Outside of the law firm, Hughston enjoys spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and coaching youth baseball. Hughston and his wife, Sarah Katherine, are active members of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
